More often than not, software development projects are actually product development projects. The goal is to develop a product that will actually be used, and where our users will have specific needs. The team that develops that product will involve more than just software developers and, to help us explore what product development entails, and the various roles that are involved in a product development team, we spoke with Jenny Farver, a Chicago-based technology leader with many years of experience in product development.

Jenny Farver is a Chicago-based technology leader. Previous roles have included: CTO at live streaming company Lightstream, CTO of advertising creative platform PopularPays and VP of Engineering at Civis Analytics. Jenny spent several years as an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and regularly speaks on technology leadership. She holds a masters and PhD from MIT and an undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. In 2019 and 2020 she was listed on the Crain’s “Tech 50” list of leaders in Chicago tech community.
